At House of Print we specialise in being your specialist printer of choice. Our entire production plant is designed for the production of the quality printed material in a certain sectors. We are known as specialist Point-of-Sale printers, manufacturing displays for a range of products. We are also the largest Music printer in the country handling the printing of the majority of the CD and DVD covers and booklets printed in the local market. We also focus on the top quality printing and attention to detail required for the production of annual reports.
We are pleased to announce that we have now expanded our portfolio of niche products with the purchase of Protea Playing Cards, the only local manufacturer of playing cards in the South African market. Protea Playing Cards has been manufacturing playing cards since 1968. The manufacture of playing cards is a specialist process requiring not only very specific products such as certain types of imported paper and finishing processes, but also a high degree of skilled knowledge and experience.
With effect from 1 June this year, we will be taking over the dedicated card finishing systems from Protea Playing Cards, as well as bringing on board some of the skilled and knowledgeable staff who will join our team and assist us in continuing the tradition of producing top-quality cards of all types.
All the cards manufactured by Protea Playing Cards, and which we will continue to manufacture, are hand checked to ensure that they are of the highest quality standards. We will use our existing printing facilities to produce the cards and then the specialist finishing facilities coming to us will ensure that the cards achieve all the properties expected from quality cards.
Our litho presses will be used for the production of the standard playing cards such as those sold through the general stationers shops. These are produced as part of longer runs as they have the highest turnover volumes. Special, corporate, customised and other small-volume cards can be printed using either our litho presses or our digital presses depending on the number required.
Apart from the standard playing cards, we will be manufacturing a wide range of cards including information cards, safety cards and environmental cards among others. We can help you to design and produce your own customised sets of cards with your own designs. With our digital printing equipment we can even print personalised cards in runs as short as one pack.
House of Print will have a stock holding of the standard playing cards to meet short term needs. Specialist cards and personalised cards will be manufactured as required.
