Late in 2016 House of Print was fortunate enough to be awarded the point of sale contract for the Edcon Group. This means that we will be printing and distributing all of the point of sale items for all Edcon stores around the country.
This contract made it clear that we needed to expand our large-format point of sale printing department. This presented us with two opportunities, expansion through the purchase of new technology or the addition of a specialist point of sale printer to the House of Print stable. The second option made more sense as it meant that we could bring in a team which understood the requirements of this market. Following extensive discussions with Reshma Ramlugan and James Johnston of Fusion Digital, we are pleased to announce that they have decided to join our family.
With Fusion Digital coming into the House of Print group it means that we now have sufficient capacity as well as the vast base of experience to handle the combined point of sale business of both companies.
Fusion Digital has a total of seven large-format digital printing machines including a new EFI Vutek FabriVu 340 printer capable of printing at resolutions of up to 2400dpi on a range of fabrics from 45 to 450gsm. It can also print onto paper for transfer production. The printer comes standard with a heated platen for ink curing. The printer runs at a maximum speed of 450sqm per hour.
We are pleased to welcome Reshma, James and the team to the House of Print family. The transfer of the entire plant to our production facilities in Industria West was handled smoothly and without incident and production has continued unhindered.
James commented, ‘The team at Fusion Digital is pleased to be joining the House of Print family. There is a great deal of synergy in the way the two companies operate and through our combined strengths we can offer our customers a complete printing solution.’
