Earlier this year House of Print acquired a majority share in Fusion Digital, this was in order to augment and expand our point-of-sale production capabilities. A major motivating factor for this was having been awarded the contract to handle the nationwide production of all point-of-sale printing for the Edcon Group.
This acquisition coupled with Edcon understandably increased our Point of Sale division substantially. However, it also brought with the need to manage the printing and distribution of all printed items. Each store within the Edcon Group has its own production requirements in terms of timing, quantity and distribution criteria.
The handling of a project on a scale of this magnitude brings with it a completely new set of skills and requirements. In order to meet the challenge and to be able to provide levels of service which we promise to all our clients, House of Print needed people with specialist logistics skills and expertise. At the time that House of Print was awarded the Edcon printing contract, it also won the contract to handle the logistics and distribution of the point-of-sale materials to the far-flung locations around the country and even into neighbouring countries.
To meet this requirement, House of Print employed a number of staff members from AC Carriers, the company which had previously had the distribution contract. This brought the necessary skills and experience in-house to ensure smooth handling and distribution.
The addition has added a new facet to the range of services provided by the company. ‘Servicing our clients efficiently and effectively is an integral part of our processes at House of Print, the addition of these staff members gives us the ability to meet the tight deadlines associated with this contract while bringing a new level of expertise in our distribution capabilities.’
