Here at House of Print, Fusion Digital and Protea Playing Card we are very well aware that we spend most of our time at work. The hours we spend here are long and demanding and as such have to be more than just rewarding for a job well done, they have to mean something more.
Achieving this means bringing a sense of fun, not just to the job but also the workplace. We regularly share a laugh with our colleagues but, we also look for opportunities to play around and do something a little more ‘childish’. For our Youth Day celebration, marking 43 years since 1976, we asked all our members of staff to come dressed in their old school uniforms. Well at least those who could still fit into them!
This made for a fun and spontaneous day where we could all share and participate in our uniqueness and individuality while celebrating our similarities. Congratulations to everyone who came to work on the day wearing school clothes that they had not tried on – or even taken out of the cupboard – for many years. We shared a few laughs, a meal and some stories of our antics and shenanigans from our school days.
And, while the fathers in the company may have been a little put out at having to share Father’s Day with Youth Day, at least we all got to celebrate a milestone in the history of our country and nation by doing something a little wild, weird and zany. Go team, you make us all proud with your willingness to find the fun side of a job well done.
